Looking for a really good two person 4 season tent? I'd like to do some winter camping expeditions and want a four season tent I can rely on, any recommendations?
Answer Question
I have Mountain Hardwear Trango 2 that has lasted me 10+ years, so I'm pretty happy with it. It's tough as nails with a proven design for 20+ yrs. It's pretty heavy though.
For super light weight tent with winter protection, you can't beat the Mountain Hardwear Direkt 2. For a little more weight, the Mountain Hardwear EV2 is roomier and more robust and has more vents. However, these tents are single wall tents that work best when its below freezing, not when its raining. The Trango 2 is a very good 4 season tent, if you don't mind carrying 10 pounds, .For non-winter (or low altitude) use a 3 season double wall tent might be preferable to avoid condensation buildup inside the tent.
Hilleberg makes some of the best tents in the world. The Hilleberg Nammatj 2 tent rocks and have used it in all seasons! Can't really beat 5 lbs for a 4 season tent. Heard it was used for an Antarctic 90 day ski trip a few years ago.The Nammatj 2 tent is the best choice for any two person outing in any condition where low weight is of equal importance to strength, reliability, and roominess. If you going to go on expeditions like Denali, the Hilleberg Nammatj 2 GT is an absolute bomber tent. I've got their Saivo 3 person tent too. No tents are better.
