How long does it typically take get boiling water from snow using a camp stove?
Answer Question
I recently made a pot of powdery snow to melt, and then on to a boil in a little over 7 minutes using a MSR XGK stove. When I boiled the snow it was about 25 degree weather, inside a lean-to with almost no wind (did not use the wind screen on the stove), but did cover the pot. The pot I used was the large pot in the MSR Quick 2 System Cook Set.
